Evelyn Cantrell

On April 21st, 2023 our family of 5 received life-changing news. Our 4-year-old baby girl, Evelyn Grace, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The day before, Evelyn woke up with a fever of 102 and unable to stand or walk comfortably. I called her pediatrician for growing pain concerns and to swab for maybe the flu or covid. When we got there, Evelyn started declining. The doctor checked her hemoglobin and it was only 3.4! When we left for the doctors office, I never imagined we would end up in the hospital for cancer. This took us all by shock.
On Monday April 24th, Evelyn went in for a bone marrow biopsy, spinal tap, and a port implant. The bone marrow biopsy confirmed the ALL diagnosis with 95% blasts (leukemia cells in the bone marrow) and chemo was started immediately.
Evelyn is a bright, beautiful, sassy soul. A fun-loving child who just enjoys living life. She enjoys spending time with her friends, going to tumbling, playing at the park, being a big sister to her baby brother and giving her older sister a run for her money.
