Darrell Shackleford

On November 29th, 2017 life as the Shackleford’s once knew would be forever changed when the youngest of the squad was taken to the emergency room for what seemed like a minor ailment. No one could prepare for what would take place next.

The dizziness Darrell spoke of was a major cause of concern by the medical staff at Children’s Hospital. He was admitted and immediately sent for a CT Scan and MRI. The scans revealed a mass on his brainstem…and the medical teams diagnosis was in…Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) a highly aggressive and incurable brain tumor.

Unfortunately, the prognosis for DIPGs remains very poor. Although a small percentage of patients surpass the median life expectancy with new developments in research, currently 99% of children diagnosed with DIPG will die within 9 months. The only way to improve survival rates is through research.

Darrell and his family are not only in need of your positive thoughts and prayers but with the unknown ahead and to give Darrell a fighting chance to beat this prognosis they need your support.

Please share Darrell’s story and consider making a donation in his name. Thank you in Advance for your support.
