Alex Brown

Alex went on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 for his 13-year-old well visit.  Little did we know that it would land us in the ER at Scottish Rite until 11:00pm that night.  His WBC count was over 52,000 and Platelet counts were over a million. They sent us home as the Hematologist said he was in no immediate danger and to follow up.  We visited the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center on Friday, September 1, 2017 where our lives changed, and this journey begins.

Alex was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). This was confirmed with a bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.  Alex is on Gleevec once a day and we are hoping and praying it will work.  We are settling into a new normal.  Alex has his good days and bad days. The one thing we do know is we WILL get through this and come out on top.
